INTERNET-BASED TELE-MEDICINE SYSTEM FOR THE TREATMENT OF SPECIFIC PHOBIAS BY MEANS OF COLLABORATIVE VIRTUAL ENVIRONMENTS (2001)
The purpose of this project is the development and later clinical validation of a tele-medicine system for psychological therapy. The intention is to develop and validate a virtual reality environment that uses the Internet as the network to link patients and therapists. As a clinical area, a system will be validated for the treatment of specific phobias (small animal phobias: birds, mice, cockroaches and spiders) in a self-applied format, using the Internet as the computer support, and virtual exposure, and proves effective in the treatment of this psychological problem.
