Psychological disorders

A psychological problem in childhood and adolescence refers to those problems that can affect the social, emotional and cognitive development, as well as the relationship established between the child and his/her parents, or with his/her peers.

The current prevalence rates reveal that between 17 and 20% of Spanish children and adolescents suffer from psychological disorders. The specific prevalence rates are: for anxiety disorders (17-26%), mood disorders (4-14%), attention deficit and hyperactivity and disorder (5%).

Numerous studies show that the sooner the detection, diagnosis and intervention in psychological problems take place, the greater the probability of preventing the appearance of other more serious disorders in adult life
