The Previ Clinical Psychology Centre was established in 1999. It consists of a team of therapists and researchers dedicated to the development and promotion of health.
Currently, Previ is composed of a multidisciplinary team of over 40 professionals (psychologists, psychiatrists, endocrinologists, social workers, nurses, aides, etc.) specialized in different fields of clinical psychology. Furthermore, in addition to clinical care, since our inception an important goal has been always to work in different areas of research.
The Previ Centre (a medical care establishment approved by the Department of Health of Valencia from October 1st 2001. Registry No. 04,295) has 4 care facilities in the Valencian Community (2 in the city of Valencia, one in the city of Castellón, one in the city of Alicante) and various specialized mental health units. They are privately run centres that have various contracts and referral agreements with public and private institutions.
1. - CLINIC:
Since its inception in 1998, the PREVI Clinical Centre has served nearly 5000 patients by trying to offer the most effective treatments for each person depending on their clinical characteristics.
The psychological evaluation and treatment are approached from a cognitive-behavioural approach, which emphasizes the way people interpret reality and attach meaning to what happens to them. The assessment strategies and psychological treatments we use have the backing of rigorous scientific research.
2. - TEACHING:
A fundamental goal is to continue to form PREVI professional excellence with a guarantee of quality. For this purpose, in 2006 the first national and international master’s degree specialized in: "Master’s Degree in Intervention in Eating Disorders, Personality Disorders and Emotional Disorders", a degree awarded by the University of Valencia and managed by the Valencian Company-University Foundation (Fundación Universidad Empresa de Valencia) (ADEIT).
Currently, along with the University of Valencia, Previ offers the following courses online and awarded the “Degree from the University of Valencia”:
3. - NEW TECHNOLOGIES:
PREVI is aware that its strength lies in the continuation of its research activity and in the dissemination of the research results.
To do so, it has participated in 12 research projects financed by public or private institutions at the local, national and/or European level. Among them, 4 European projects are worthy of special mention: VEPSY UDATED, EMMA, I-LEARNING and SOCIABLE. Also deserving of mention is the VISION project, a CENIT action of the Ministry of Science and Technology, and coordinated by Telefónica I+D.
The information and communication technologies (ICT) are present in virtually all areas of our lives. Right now there is a marked expansion of these technologies in the health field. Of particular interest is the use of VR as a therapeutic tool for the treatment of various psychological disorders.
VR offers a "new way of doing therapy" and has important advantages for the therapeutic context. This is a new technology that involves the generation of a series of three-dimensional environments in which the user not only has the sensation of being physically present, but can also interact with them in real time.
The purpose of these systems is to provide the therapist with a tool to generate experiences and create useful therapeutic contexts for the patient, markedly improving the therapeutic experience and treatment efficacy. Previ currently has the following applications:
